Ananda Yoga Teacher Training

Starting September 14, 2010 and continuing to mid-April, 2011
Experience the depth and breadth of Ananda Yoga and learn to share the life-changing experience of yoga with others. With small classes and expert, individualized instruction, this is far more than a training program on how to teach yoga postures; it’s a transforming experience in the complete science and application of yoga.
This is a unique opportunity: The power of this offering is that you can fit Yoga Teacher Training into your active life! Classes are held weekly on Tuesday evening, bi-monthly on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, plus a one-week retreat at the Expanding Light Retreat Center at Ananda Village in California. Overall, the course will last about 6½ months.

What’s special about Ananda Yoga Teacher Training?

  1. It’s a high-quality professional training; we think there’s none better. It’s registered with Yoga Alliance at 200 hours, so graduates can immediately become Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®-200)
  2. Small class size means more individual attention for you.
  3. You’ll experience yoga as a complete way of life. While your main focus will be asanas, you’ll also learn classical meditation and pranayama, study essential yoga philosophy (including Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad-Gita, the chakras, and more), and learn to apply the time-honored techniques of yoga in your daily life. We'll also explore the spiritual dimension of yoga
  4. You'll learn anatomy and physiology for yoga teachers.
  5. You'll learn how to teach asanas in their essential form as well as how to modify asanas for those with special needs (seniors, people with injuries, etc.)
  6. You'll gain confidence and polish through practice teaching sessions and guidance from the instructors.
  7. Ananda Yoga itself is special—a truly unique, yet classical, approach to hatha yoga, viewing it as above all a spiritual practice. In addition to familiar asanas, you’ll learn powerful techniques that no other yoga tradition offers.
  8. You’ll enjoy a special week-long stay at The Expanding Light, Ananda’s retreat center in Northern California for the last week of the course.
  9. You’ll receive valuable support after you graduate:
    • Our teaching staff are available to you when questions come up.
    • Advanced teacher training—including advanced techniques, refining your teaching skills, deeper study of yoga philosophy, and yoga therapy.
    • A free membership in the Ananda Yoga Teacher Association, with discounts on continuing education, a valuable newsletter, an e-mail Q&A forum, and more.

It’s a truly unique experience that, if you’re like most participants, will be life-changing. To apply, complete the application form and medical questionnaire and mail it to us with your deposit. We’ll contact you as soon as we review your application.

I hope you’ll join us for this transforming experience. Blessings to you,

Laurie Chadwick, RYT ®500
